TIBOR FLY REEL

No matter how technologically advanced the fishing industry becomes, it’s nice to know it still holds a place for the timeless values of integrity and Old World craftsmanship. In the world of fly fishing, that place is occupied by legends like Billy Pate, and Lefty Kreh, and a Hungarian tool and die master with a passion for fly fishing and a gift for reel design: Tibor “Ted” Juracsik. Ted’s family business, Tibor (pronounced TEE-bor) Reel Corporation is the world leader in the design and manufacture of the highest quality fly fishing reels. Juracsik revolutionized the saltwater fly fishing reel industry with the introduction of his first anti-reverse Billy Pate Fly Reel in 1976, The internationally acclaimed line of Tibor Reels was introduced in 1995, the exciting Tibor QC series in 2005, and 2008 the Tibor Spey – destined to become another classic. 2011 marks the 35th anniversary of Tibor Reels and to celebrate Ted is introducing a revolutionary new line of reels – The Tibor Signature Series.

The Tibor fly reels were first introduced in 1995 and they have established themselves as the benchmark for custom-crafted fly reels. After years of development and input from the likes of Lefty Kreh and Flip Pallot, Ted was finally satisfied with a reel that truly has set a new standard in fly fishing reel technology. The spool’s large arbor design significantly enhances the rate of line retrieval which is critical when you’re trying to control speedsters like bonefish, bonito, or wahoo. As with all of Ted’s reels, the drag system is flawless and has withstood the test of the world’s most demanding game fish, including 250 World Records, so far. If you were to own only one fly reel, the Tibor Fly Reel is the one.

In 1999, Ted launched his freshwater Tibor Light series to the delight of trout, bass, and other light fly anglers. This series now features the ConstaLube (CL) System which is an innovative drag design composed of a special felt and lubricant that produces a constant lubrication for a smooth drag throughout the entire range of resistance. The Tibor Light Spring Creek CL, Tail Water CL, and Back Country CL Wide are designed with the same uncompromising standards as our time-tested Billy Pate and Tibor series. Suitable for 3 to 8-weight rods in both fresh and saltwater conditions, even the most fragile tippet can be fished with complete confidence. Their quality and construction, watch-like precision, and superb drag system will deliver unmatched performance against anything from an 8-inch brook trout to a 30-pound tarpon.

Once again, Tibor Reels sets the standard for quality, design, and innovation with the new Tibor Signature Series. 2011 marked the 35th Anniversary of Tibor Reel Corporation, and to celebrate, Tibor introduced a revolutionary new line of reels that are the pinnacle of 35 years of designing and manufacturing the world’s finest fly fishing reels. Signed by Master reel designer and fly fisherman Ted “Tibor” Juracsik, the elegant and efficient design of the Tibor Signature Series consists of very few parts. It features a completely ventilated spool and frame that keeps the reel cool during long, smoking runs and provides a robust incoming and outgoing clicker sound. Available in three sizes, the Tibor Signature Series delivers the same tough standards that have earned Tibor reels over 750 world records – more than any other fly reel!

Two-handed fly rodding gets a sure-handed Tibor update in this modern spin on one of fishing’s most hallowed traditions. Engraved with a Steelhead Salmon and traditional Celtic knot pattern, the Tibor Spey reel features a modified drag system with a drag knob outlined in “witness marks.” These marks allow you to precisely set, loosen, keep track of and then reset your drag for the various tippet tensions required while striking, fighting and delicately landing larger fish. The Tibor Spey also features our QuickChange spool system which allows you to change out spools on a moment’s notice. With only a single moving part – the one-piece stainless steel end cap – there is nothing to remove, no loose parts, tricky threading or alignments. Finished in our non-reflective traditional moss green and now in jet black, the Tibor Spey features its own unique spool design that’s also available with the SpeedHandle Spool option, and is precisely weighted and balanced for the heavier lines and rods used in this classic form of fishing. Like every Tibor fly reel, it’s made and assembled in the USA, virtually maintenance-free and backed with a limited lifetime warranty.
